Hi, I’m Joe. I’m not a chef. I don’t own fancy knives. I once set off the smoke alarm making toast. But I’m here—trying to cook.
Joe Tries to Cook started as a personal challenge: to prove to my wife (and maybe myself) that I can, in fact, cook something edible… maybe even delicious. What began with burnt rice and confused looks at spice jars has turned into a growing collection of honest, funny, sometimes chaotic kitchen experiments.
This isn’t the place for perfect plating or professional techniques. It’s a place for everyday people who mess up, laugh, learn, and try again. Here, the focus isn’t on being an expert—it’s about being curious, adventurous, and real.
What You’ll Find Here:
- Real recipes tested by a real human (me)
- Mistakes I proudly leave in, because that’s half the fun
- Short videos and stories where flavor meets failure (and sometimes success)
- A growing community of fellow try-ers who find joy in the process
So whether you’re learning to cook, trying to impress someone, or just hungry and unsure what a “simmer” is—welcome. You’re in good company.
Bon appétit. Or as I used to say… bon-a-petiu.
— Joe
